Constitutional Amendments
Submission to constitutional amendments
Having noted the review process of the country’s constitution we also wish to make our submission as follows:
Preamble of the constitution as it is now:
We, the people of South Africa,
Recognise the injustices of our past;
Honour those who suffered for justice and freedom in our land;
Respect those who have worked to build and develop our country; and
Believe that South Africa belongs to all who live in it, united in our diversity.
We therefore, through our freely elected representatives, adopt this Constitution as the supreme law.
Our submission is as follows on the constitution:
We the citizens of South Africa, recognize the injustice of our past;
Honour those who suffered for justice and freedom in our land;
Respect those who have worked to build and develop our country; and
Believe that South Africa belongs to all its citizens, united in diversity.
We, therefore, through our freely elected representatives, adopt this constitution as the supreme law.
Chapter 2 of the constitution outlines the fundamental rights conferred to all citizens even those who visit our country as we treat them humane as a nation however the constitution should reflect fundamentally to citizens of South Africa.
Consequently of the above paragraph it is our considered view that we submit section 29 be also amended to read as follows
As opposed to “Everyone has the right to”, we submit it should read as “All South African citizens have the right to”.
